Kratom vs. coffee

Both a lift, different leaf.

Kratom and coffee are botanical cousins — kratom is in the coffee family — but they feel different in the cup. Here's how a kratom tea stacks up against your usual coffee.

Questions

The quick answers.

Is kratom related to coffee?

Yes — kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is in the same botanical family as coffee, Rubiaceae. That's part of why it's traditionally brewed as a tea for a lift.

Does kratom have caffeine?

No. Kratom's lift comes from its own alkaloids (mainly mitragynine), not caffeine — so you can even have a red in the evening.

Is kratom stronger than coffee?

They're different. Coffee only stimulates; kratom can energize at smaller amounts and relax at larger ones. Our staff will start you gentle.

Can I have both?

Sure — some folks do. Just start low with the kratom and see how you feel.

Do you actually serve coffee too?

We do — Keurig coffee is on the menu. But if you want to try something new, a kratom tea is the move.
