Kava words
Kava words
| Kava | A calming drink made from the root of Piper methysticum, a South Pacific pepper plant. |
| Noble | The traditional, well-balanced kava cultivars grown for daily drinking. It's all we pour. |
| Tudei | 'Two-day' kava — fast and heavy, but can cause nausea and linger. We never serve it. |
| Kavalactones | The active compounds in kava that create the calm. Their ratio sets the feel. |
| Chemotype | The order/ratio of the six major kavalactones — why one kava feels heady and another heavy. |
| Waka | The lateral roots of the kava plant — the strongest, headiest part. |
| Lawena | The basal root — milder, heavier, more relaxing, and gentler on the stomach. |
| Shell | A serving of kava, traditionally drunk from a coconut-shell cup in one go. |
| Heady / heavy | Heady kava lifts the mind and stays clear; heavy kava relaxes the body and sedates. |
| Reverse tolerance | Why first-timers sometimes feel little — the body often 'gets it' after a few sessions. |
Kratom words
Kratom words
| Kratom | A leaf from Mitragyna speciosa, a tree in the coffee family, brewed here as a tea. |
| Vein color | White, green or red — it tracks the leaf's maturity and drying, and shifts the feel. |
| White vein | The most energizing — the 'morning cup.' |
| Green vein | The balanced all-rounder — a steady, sociable lift. |
| Red vein | The calming 'nightcap' — mellow and made to wind down. |
| Mitragynine | Kratom's primary active alkaloid. No caffeine involved. |
| Strain | A regional name (Maeng Da, Bali, Malay, Indo). Mostly about origin and vein, not different plants. |
| Maeng Da | A potent, selectively-harvested grade — 'pimp grade' leaf. |
| Boost | An add-in that ups the kratom strength of your drink. |
Bar & culture
Bar & culture
| Kava bar | A sober-social lounge serving botanical drinks instead of alcohol. |
| Sober-social | The whole idea — a real social scene with zero alcohol. |
| Present, not impaired | Our motto: relaxed and social, but clear-headed and fully there. |
| Island Warrior | Our house kava specialty. |
| Josh Juice | Our house kratom specialty. |
| Unkie Palmer | Half kratom tea, half lemonade — a bright, easy pour. |
